Friends come, friends go
This happens all the time, and on farewell parties we lie to each other.. “keep in touch, ok!!” But we’re the one who never contact, just keeping out of touch. And I’m guilty as charged.
As much as I try to keep in touch with friends I dearly love, I don’t work hard enough keeping in touch. Worse, I even calculate. I deliberately forgot my friend’s birthday and to at least send an sms just because she hasn’t sms me on my birthday the past 2 years. Does congratulating each other need to be reciprocal? It’s not the sms-ing (cmon, I’m not that cheap!), it’s the fact that other people don’t even bother to put my name on their cellphone to help their forgetful minds.
I love my Treo, it’s so dependable, and never missed a birthday that I sometimes feel annoyed when it reminded me of a birthday of a friend who I lost contact with. Vividly I recall the last time I saw them and wondering how they were doing. There goes another friend, I thought..
I just had a farewell dinner with a friend. We’re not really close, but we spent weekends in a group either at the beach or trying new restaurants. So again I said, “let’s keep in touch, and since you’re moving to an office closer to mine, let’s have lunch sometime.” I meant that, and will make an effort. It shouldn’t be hard to do, just need to stop making excuses of how endless my to do list is.
Good luck V!
ps. Hi Poppy, thanks for stopping by! So it’s been ages, huh? Does it mean you’re out of the ‘jomblo’ club? :)
Care for a side job?
I got an offer, well actually more of a favor (since it was low budget project) asked by a friend who's working on a website for a new villa and looking for a writer for the spa page.
Haha.. I thought. Felt a mix of surprise (how did he know I write?) and worried (I really prefer to remain anonymous). At the end I had to decline and offered the job to another friend.
I don’t think I can ever write for marketing purpose. I did it several time for the company and it hurt to my stomach. I didn’t lie or polish things up too much, but I’m never good at self promotion, and since I was representing the company (and my boss) still had to add sugar and juice in it.
And I never like reading the local magazines. I flipped through them quickly just to get updated on what’s new and what’s hot. I had to skip the reviews on hotels and bars, and new venues. Too much sugary reading, even pretentious. Too many dreamy words sometimes it just makes me frown.. what the heck is she trying to say? She uses too many adjectives!! Get to the point, willya!! Train of words like deliciously cool interiors roof top suites (huh? Yumm??) ;
their menu twinkles with a sense of fun (oohh.. glaring menus? I’d like to see that!) ; the ambient energy of the evening bar throw a fresh new twist on spa. It's a chill out zone with a party vibe and a great place to unwind or rev up as the mood takes you (Sorry babe, I’m pretty much gone!!)
